Chapter 1: Taylor Alison Swift
Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13th, 1989 at 8:36am in Reading, Pennsylvania. Taylor spent a portion of her youth living on a Christmas Tree Farm in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania with her younger brother, Austin Swift, and her parents, Andrea Finlay and Scott Kingsley Swift.
At the young age of nine, Taylor became interested in musicals. Taylor was involved in many productions, and took vocal and acting lessons in Broadway, New York.
Taylor slowly became interested in country music, which led to weekends spent at local festivals, fairs, or wherever she could sing for a crowd. She even sang 'The Star Spangled Banner' at a Philadelphia 76ers game when she was eleven! This eventually began to damage her interest in a social life, as she was slowly breaking away from the crowd and her friends.
When Taylor was around eleven years old, she watched an episode of Behind The Music that was about Faith Hill. Taylor figured she needed to be in Nashville, Tennessee to launch a successful country music career. When Taylor was eleven, she traveled to Nashville with her mother to leave a demo of Dolly Parton and The Dixie Chicks covers to various record labels. She received rejections from all of the labels, and she soon realized that everyone wanted to do what she wanted to do.
When Taylor was twelve years old, her computer had to be repaired. And so, a computer repairman named Ronnie came to Ms. Swift's house, and fixed her computer. He was about to leave, but he saw a guitar tucked into the corner of her room. “Do you play?” Ronnie asked Taylor. “No.” Taylor said. Ronnie then taught Taylor a few chords on the guitar, and Taylor was automatically hooked.
Taylor then wrote and sang her first song ever, “Lucky You”. it was about Taylor’s struggle fitting in with the crowd at school. although it was never released professionally to the public, it is definitely a Youtube hit. Listen to 'Lucky You' here.
